Tips on Opting for the Finest Semi-Tones And Tones On A Piano, Organ and Keyboard, Guitar and Drums for Beginners
Musicians are the frequent visitors of musical stores other than the instrument technicians, beginners and music lovers. Musical instrument stores are nowadays having a big boom, because of the increased music lovers and their passion towards music which kindle them to learn their favorite musical instrument.
They have a collection of several musical gadgets, which can be selected by the brand name, cost etc. generally almost all musical stores have other accessories as well, other than the musical instruments. The accessories usually sold are the gadget covers, speakers, straps, racks, lubricants, microphones, batteries and many more. These are some of the common musical instruments you get in any musical shop anywhere in the world, they include, guitar, piano, drums, bagpipes, bells, organs, flute and more. Musical instruments vary from country to country and tradition to tradition there are lots of traditional instruments which are used worldwide with their traditional name.
Some instruments like piano, guitar, drums and dj equipments are of significance.
Here are some tips to watch out before purchasing the above instruments. For guitar, first check out for the size you want and see whether the size you prefer has all the features you expect it to have and then move on to see which kind of guitar will be suitable for your style, be it flamenco, campfire music or whatever, so that this will make you narrow down your choice. Next important criterion is the volume adjustment, because during your practicing session it might be difficult, what if you have a bigoted neighbors around, hence in this case you can go in for a guitar which has head phones to plug in. finally go in for the brand and the price, generally each one will have their own favorite brand so go in for it or try different ones and see which suits you best.
Piano is a wonderful instrument which has been played by many people across the world. While purchasing for one, first decide whether you want to buy a new one or an old one, because piano is one instrument which is very durable and they outlive their owners and end up landing in an antique shop or sold in an auction. Then look out for the style you want and see whether it matches your expectation and most importantly the size and weight of the piano should be considered because it’s a very important factor.
And now for the rockers, how to go about selecting a good drum set?? The most and very important thing but least bothered or discussed is nothing but buying the ‘throne’, it’s the chair in which the drummer is seated. Most of them overlook this, but this is really important because this decides how the drummer can perform, it must be comfortable and easy for them to move up and down. Buying the right kind of throne one can prevent poor playing posture and back injuries. Other factors include as usual the price, size and brand.
Semitones and tones are distances from one key to another key on a keyboard. For example if we play middle C on the keyboard and then play the next white note to the right which is D then that distance is one tone. For those of you not familiar with a keyboard then get my Lesson 1 e-Book here, which will show a 61 note, keyboard with the correct notes names printed on each key.
The thing to remember when counting semitones and tones on a keyboard is to count the distances and not the notes. A semitone is the closest distance from one note to another note. So again, if we play middle C on a keyboard and want to move one semi-tone to the right the note you should be playing is C sharp that is the black note between C and D. When you first look, at the C and D keys they might appear to be closest to each other but the black notes are placed between the white notes, which make them closer. Now starting from middle C again if you move one semitone to the left, you will notice there is no black key between the white keys so the closest key is B.
Counting semitones on a keyboard is very useful especially for finding chords. For example if you wanted to find C chord which consist of a root, third and a fifth we use distances to find the notes. The distance from the root to the third is four semitones and the distance from the root to the fifth is seven semitones. Now since the root is always the name of the chord in this case C, count four semitones (distances) to the right from C to get E then count seven semitones to the right from C to get G and you have just found your C chord C, E and G and since all major chords (triads) use a root, third and fifth you can find all twelve major chord by counting semitones.
I personally count distances in semitones, that’s just my preference. Instead of saying two semitones, you can of course say one tone. It’s up to the individual. Remember to count distances and not notes.
Music For Your Church Wedding-organ Music is Still King.
If you’re planning a church wedding, organ is an instrument you should learn. Okay, maybe not learn. But definitely learn a little about.
The organ has been called the “King of Instruments”. It’s a well-deserved title.
You many not know very much about this instrument. The pipe organ is a very common instrument in churches, so it will help you to know a little about it for planning your wedding ceremony music. Just a little.
A common instrument for a wedding: organ If you’re getting married in a church, chances are that you’ll be having an organ involved in your wedding music. Of course, you don’t have to. You can choose a piano or bring in other instruments. But the organ is what most couples choose, partly because it’s an extremely convenient choice.
This is why so many of my music suggestions are organ pieces. It’s simply the most commonly-used instrument.
How it works The pipe organ was essentially the world’s first synthesizer. This is because it can make a wide variety of sounds, thanks to its stops. These stops control air going to different sets of pipes (each set makes a different sound). “Pulling out a stop” means more pipes will play when a key is pressed.
Some churches have electronic organs rather than pipe organs. The sound can be but is not always similar. The concept is still the same. For you, thinking about a wedding, organs are organs. There’s no real difference to be concerned about.
The organ can play many different styles of music because of these stops and the variety of sounds they play. Being able to play multiple keyboards and pedals at the same time only increases this capability.
But it’s not for all music But some music isn’t at all suited for the organ. Just like a harp can technically play notes from any piece of music doesn’t mean it’s going to sound good. A harp playing something written for an electric guitar is not going to be pretty.
Such is also true for the organ. Some music just won’t work.
I once heard a story from an organist friend in Germany. A bride gave him a CD of yoga music that featured chirping birds and even a zither and asked him to play this for her processional. He said he’d do his best. He spent many hours trying to simulate various sounds he heard from the CD on the organ and made a valiant attempt.
But it turned out the bride was expecting it to sound exactly like the CD and she was terribly disappointed. The sounds she wanted just weren’t possible on the organ.
What you also need to know It’s also important for you to know that not only are organs very expensive instruments, but the technique for playing one is far different than for other instruments such as pianos and even electronic jazz- or rock-type organs (or keyboards). It’s just completely different.
For both of these reasons, churches tend to keep a close eye on who gets to play their instrument. For weddings, guest organists will need to be cleared with the church.
Ask the church for permission if you want to use your own musician. Be prepared to be asked whether your musician knows how to play such an organ.
Points to remember
1. The organ is a very flexible instrument and can play a variety of music. There’s an abundance of music already written for it.
2. But even this instruments has its limits. Don’t assume any music will be handled well.
3. Playing an organ is different than other keyboard instruments. Don’t assume that anybody who can play a keyboard can play a church organ well.

| What About Learning to Play the Piano When you start to learn to play the piano, there are some things you will need to do in order to be successful. You should have a piano or an electronic keyboard to get started. You should buy, rent or borrow it. Find a time during the day when you can be by yourself to practice. Ask someone who plays the keyboards for advice. This could be an organist in a church or band, or someone who plays or used to play the piano. You will need to practice on a regular basis to be good on the piano. Be patient. Don’t compare yourself with others. Everyone learns at his or her own pace. You must also work on blocking distractions while you are practicing. Learn to play the piano Before you start to play any scale or chord on the piano, you must first learn the notes and how they relate to one another. There are three types of notes 1. The natural keys or notes -These are basically all of the white keys on the piano. The names are A-B-C-D-E-F- and G. 2. The sharp keys or notes(#)- These are the black keys (going from left to right ) on the piano. 3. The flat keys or notes (b)-These are the same black keys or notes going from (right to left) on the piano. When you hear a musician say play this song in C, he means C natural, without any flats or sharps. Or he could say D# which would mean D Sharp. Or he would say F b which means F Flat. Learn to play the piano You will notice, upon looking at the piano, that the black keys or notes are raised above the white keys and groups of two’s and three’s. This will help you identify the keys on the piano. While practicing the piano or any musical instrument, take your time and don’t rush it. There are a lot of things you won’t get at first, but keep practicing. With practice and patience, you will learn to play the piano.
